The world of dating in 2020 has changed. Dating now is a virtual
experience. First you meet online via Facebook dating, Tender, Christian
Mingle, ect. Then you match. I do not know if you message first or the man
messages first. For me I like when a man messages me first, this shows
initiative. Next, it is the conversation. Trying to get to know someone
through messages then text. When you are comfortable you go to phone
calls and video chats. Now with the pandemic you cannot meet someone in
person unless your social distancing. Is this a bad thing, I think not! This
allows you to talk and connect with the person. I have talked to multiple
men and realized they were not the one for me. I did not waste my time.

The first meet is through video chat or at a local park to social distance and
walk around in an open safe area. There are open areas to date and
socially distance see my Social Distance Dating Blog. At the first meet you
should keep it simple. Do not ask the hard questions like Do you want kids
or talk about each other’s ex (huge red flag). This first meeting is to see if
you are compatible to hold conversations on like and dislikes in hobbies.
Ask questions about their jobs, what they would like to accomplish in the
next year, or places they like to visit. Talk about dreams or goals they are
working on. Allow your conversation to flow and follow the direction. If
you are leading the conversation and it is hard to keep a conversation this
is a sign that you guys just are not clicking. That is ok maybe he is an
introvert but after this first meeting and you guys are talking on the phone,
date a few times and there is no growth in the conversation, Id say he is not
for you. The man should be asking questions as well. He should seem
interested in getting to know you.

First impressions are important but do not fully judge the man by the first impression. First dates or meetups are awkward. You do not know this person, so give some grace during a first date. The most important time is after this first meet. Does he call or text you? Do you guys progress in conversation with phone calls or video chats? Is there a second date? If you note that the text decrease, no phone calls, and he just show no interest, he may not be the one for you. A man knows who he is interested in and will pursue that person.

Dating is a lot of work and it sometimes feels like a full-time job. Make sure you take your time. Do not rush or settle. If you need a break take the break. Do not allow dates to bring your confidence down. Allow them to show you the type of man your interested in. Always pray, God will give you discernment in which men you should even meet. Listen for red flags early on, see the 10 Signs of Unavailable Men blog.  This is a time to date with a purpose. Do not date just to have a companion or pass time. You do not want to waste your time. As a single mom, you have a FT job, kids and life. Don’t allow dating to add stress or take away from those other areas.
